Message from the Interim Chancellor
Welcome to the Southern University Law Center (SULC), a venerable institution with a rich history and a legacy of excellence. SULC opened its doors in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in September 1947 as the Southern University School of Law and was redesignated as a Law Center in 1985. Here, you will find a community of accomplished and committed faculty, engaged administrators, staff, and dedicated, extraordinary alumni united in a common purpose. Our legacy and excellence are a testament to our commitment to providing the best legal education.
SULC's goals are to prepare students to excel as lawyers, champion justice, serve communities, and uphold the highest standards of ethics, justice, and professionalism. Our unyielding determination and culture of collaboration drive pioneering scholarship and exceptional teaching that establish the benchmark for an education uniting theory and practice.
Our graduates, a testament to the quality of education at SULC, are significantly impacting the legal field. They now practice in law firms of all sizes and serve as judges and elected officials, making us proud and inspiring the next generation. It is an honor to be a part of, and leader of, this prestigious institution dedicated to training the next generation of Lawyer Leaders.
