LAWS 799 Trademark Prosecution
The course is targeted at teaching the fundamental knowledge and skills required for the acquisition and retention of trademark rights; application and prosecution of trademark registrations; infringement; remedies; and international aspects of trademark protection. Students will gain perspectives on the process of obtaining a federal trademark registration and how to respond to or deal with a refusal from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO). Students will develop knowledge and understanding of the principles and theories of trademark law, including limitations and remedies, the registration process, assessment of rights, infringement risk and due diligence.
