LAWS 945 Inter-Partes Review Course
This class provides an examination of the Inter-Partes Review (IPR) process created in the America Invents Act (2012). During the course, students will learn how to structure the IPR petition, including prior art searching and application to patent claims, the definition of and use of intrinsic evidence and the importance of patent claim construction to the outcome of the proceedings. Students will also learn how to work with experts, develop expert declarations and deal with expert testimony. The structure, organization and creation of claim charts will be discussed, and students will have the opportunity to develop a claim chart. Finally, students will engage in a petition drafting workshop to bring the course together in a practical way.
